Each of our different groups and committees all have the same goal to serve the lord and the parish, however, they are each rather unique in their approach and offer different ways for parishioners to participate in the parish.

History
Our Lady of Guadalupe - Guadalupe, Mexico (1531)
Patroness of the Americas Feast Day in the USA - December 12th
The opening of the New World brought with it both fortune-seekers and religous preachers desiring to convert the native populations to the Christian faith. One of the converts was a poor Aztec indian named Juan Diego. On one of his trips to the chapel, Juan was walking through the Tepayac hill country in central Mexico. Near Tepayac Hill he encountered a beautiful woman surrounded by a ball of light as bright as the sun. Speaking in his native tongue, the beautiful lady said "Call me and call my image Santa Maria de Guadalupe".
Our Spirituality
Formed by 12 members from the Queen of the Universe community, these members feel called to serve Jesus by way of the Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe. In this group members are called to evangelize through the prayer of the Holy Rosary, while meditating on the life, death and resurrection of Christ our lord.
Objectives
Because of this Desire to pray the Rosary not only in the church but outside as well, this group decided to initiate the 46 Rosaries for the Virgin of Guadalupe. This group calls on any members from the parish of any group or ministry to join in the prayer in a way of uniting the parish. Families are presented the image of the Virgin Mary and asked to take this image to there home, near the parish, and to pray the Rosary. Starting the last week of October and finishing in December.
In the final days, in addition to the Rosary, they invite the parish to participate in the evening mass and to see the story of the apparitions of the Virgin to Juan Diego, performed by volunteers.
On December 12th at 4:00 AM the community sings the "Mananitas" to the Virgin then mass at 5:00 AM. Finally in the evening the there is a mass of Roses, where the children can offer flowers to the virgin, and Aztec dancing is performed by the Grupo Guadalupano.

NeoCatechumenal Way
The Neocatechumenal Way is an itinerary of Christian formation suitable to modern man, as described by Pope John Paul II. Initiated by Kiko Arguello during the years of the Second Vatican Council, the road is an instrument of parish evangelization to reach the people most distant and those who asked and need to grow in faith. This itinerary is lived in small communities of people of all ages and states that mature together to renew their baptismal promises. In our parish there are three Neocatechumenal communities, two in Spanish and one in English, headed by Father Jose and Father John. We meet once a week to celebrate the word of God and the Saturday afternoon to celebrate the Sunday Eucharist.
Those responsible for the first community are Angel and Carmen For more information http://www.camminoneocatecumenale.it/ |
CERS
Quienes somos?
